Christmas 2016,

MERRY X'MAS
&
HAPPY BOXING DAY
!!!

How did you spend your Christmas this year?

The second half of 2016 is a bit different for me. Baby left for his 1-year exchange programme in Beijing and therefore, I have no partner to celebrate most of the occasions with. But the happy thing is, I'll be spending more time with my family and friends.

I'm not a social butterfly. I do not have many friends. The ones I have are the ones that I find them trust-able and reliable. As I grow older, it's quality over quantity. And because of this, I distanced myself away from some who don't place priority in our dates whenever we agreed to meet up for a meal.

Ah, it's a happy occasion so I shall talk about how I spent my Christmas 2016 (without my boyfriend)!

This year, I spent it with the group of girls I hang out with most of the times. We booked an apartment from Airbnb and it is located in Geylang. Hmmm, why that area you may ask. Tbh, I've no idea too. I shortlisted a few that are located in Orchard. However, the final decision was made by one of the girls. It's okay, the apt was fine. It's also priced at an affordable price too. So, why not? Sadly, there isn't any photos of the apt taken during that 3D2N of staycation because the place was quite messy once we checked in.

Rested for awhile and we decided to go for an early dinner @ 126 because Sylvia and I were both famished. I've always wanted to try 126 with Baby but didn't because it's super inconvenient for the both of us. I don't like spending money on cab fares too. So we kept delaying until now.

Congee

Fried mantou
I've read reviews about 126 and some commented that it's comparable to Sween Choon's. Hmmm, sorry but I beg to differ. I think Swee Choon beats 126 in many ways! Price wise, if I'm not wrong, 126 wins because it's more affordable. But, standard wise... Sorry. I don't rlly like most of their food. Let's just say that when it should be hot/warm, it's not; when it's supposed to be moist, it's not too. Okay, but to be fair, I would say that I love their congee! That's the only 2 congee that I love out of the whole order that we had. And nope, I won't go back after this.

It was raining cats and dogs and we had no choice but to stay in the dimsum place awhile longer before we decided to walk in the rain. Thankfully, halfway through our walk back, there was a shop that sells umbrellas! Woohoo!

Our first night was spent watching shows on Kshowonline, playing games, birthday/x'mas celebration and drinking a bit of red wine.

Thankfully, I brought my tripod along!!

The December babies

Bedtime was 3am and I woke up at 9plus the next day. How did I even survive?! We started our second day with 点心 breakfast again. It was at Yong He and damn, the food is so much nicer than erm... 126!

I love their lor mai gai, youtiao, carrot cake, muah chee youtiao (but this would be nicer if it's not that oily but still good!!). And yes, I recommend this place to anyone out there who loves cheap yet good dimsum/allergic to seafood. So gna bring my family here one day!! We ordered a few more that aren't seen in the first photo below and the total cost is only $45!!

Additional order: Muah chee youtiao

Large intestine meesua

Our noon activity was spent at Katong's Teoheng where I succeeded on my high pitch song, likka finally!! Erm, after 4 years maybe? HAHAH! We went crazy on Jay Chou's songs too and my voice trembled like mad after that because I shouted like one crazy woman.

Dinner was a KBBQ Restaurant in Tanjong Katong. It's opened by a Korean and the meat is very, super, uber tender!! I love the meat so much to the extent that I thought I had the whole tray of meat. I love meat but I can nvr eat too much because I'll feel choked afterwards. Okay, that's just some extra information. Anyway, it's $24.80 on Sat, Sun and PH!

The restaurant was quite empty. Not sure why though. The lady boss mentioned that they've only operated for over 2 months so hopefully business would be better in the near future! All the best!

Back to apt, tv/game/drinking sesh before we headed to bed at 12mn. Checked out at 11am today and here I am typing these! I'm dead beat but I decided to log this into my entry since my blog hasn't been updated for a long time!

I would love to explore this part of Singapore one day because the low rise buildings and all make it so different from most of the places in Singapore.

Ah, I'm unofficially jobless now that my contract is gonna end soon. Unofficial because there's a company shutdown period and my contract is till the end of the month. Hirers, anyone?

Ok, bye!

DAY 4

We packed our luggage, checked out of our room and placed our bags at a safe corner in the guesthouse provided by the staff. TBH, we were still quite worried about where should we place our luggage at/should we bring it along with us for whole day/find a luggage deposit s'where in Penang (not that we knew of one lah).

We started our day with a nearby wanton mee to fuel our last day there! It was just a few mins walk down the street.

So much feel with the cup of milo. And erm, it was rlly very filling because I was super bloated after the cup of hot milo. I can never consume any liquids after my meal bcos I'll get super full to the brim.

I think we went to some cafes straight after this. HAHAH! Gained more weight too. Anyway, our second stop was Bricklin.

My sunburnt face

Cafe Latte

Earl Grey Lavender

+ Salmon Quiche
I liked the quiche more than the mille crepe. Prolly because I didn't like lavender in the first place. No idea why we ordered that too. I think bcos Baby thought we should try smth new instead of chocolate again. Hahahah! Anyway, these cost only RM36!

Proceeded to Penang Times Square next. Then boys being boys, Baby was like "take photos of these!!"

Entered the mall for some aircon sesh when we came across this pretty walls. How to reject the wall when it's alrdy there inviting everyone to take photos leh? Some of the shameless photos of myself. But awww, look at the boy!! /emoji with hearts at eyes/

I think we spent a good 30mins right at this spot before we decided to make a move cus more people came for photo-taking after us. Hahahah! Third stop: Dolce Dessert where we had our macarons!

Praline sesame

Salted caramel bania

A "poop" for you?

Macaron or my boyf?
Glutton, aren't we? Because we made our way to an alley that sells famous Penang chendol! Wah, damn apt for a super hot day!!

I think we took cab to Gurney drive after that when I had my short nap. I felt super tired at that point of time and Baby said, he didn't slp at all (again) just so that he could ensure the driver brought us to our destination safely. Hahah!

Last before flying back to Sg

We ordered this too because we weren't full yet

The dried up sea

Then it was time to head back to the guesthouse to bring our luggage out. The driver was alrdy waiting outside the guesthouse :/ We reached there quite late bcos there was a bad jam on our way back to the house. Sad that our short getaway ended so fast!

Upon reaching the airport and landing (in Singapore)...

Words
That's how we spent our 4D3N in Penang, Malaysia. Apart from the mosquito bites that we got frequently, even after pasting repellent stickers, the experience there was nothing short of amazing! I think it'd be perfect if we'd given parasailing a try. But the coward me didn't want... Hahahah!

Anyway, let's take some time to appreciate the designs of the buildings now before I end my entry on my Penang trip w the best travel partner ever!

Till then.
