The Plain,

26 May 2014:

Finally a trip down to The Plain after it being in my list for damn long. Visited this cafe w a girl name Joy. It was my 3rd or 4th consecutive trip down to Tj Pagar for the hidden cafes there. Yes, the very pretty and tall condominium is in the backgrnd of the first photo below. If I'm not wrong, it's called Pinnacle@Duxton.

The Plain doesn't have a menu on each table for their customers. The only menu they have is the super big one that is framed on the wall, like this:

Pretty cool

It's eco-friendly and cool but at the same time, it was a lil awkward bcos there was a couple sitting at the table in front of the menu when we were looking at the it. But anyway, we still made our orders. Some dishes come in small and regular portion, depending on how big your appetite is. As we're sharing, I ordered mine with a larger portion.

Smoked Salmon @ $12

Dean's Breakfast @ $13

Iced Chocolate @ $6.50
Yeah, salmon (agn!). In comparison w the prev cafe I visited, I think the salmon here tastes better. No, the salmon from the previous cafe was good. But this is even better IMO. The combination of thin sliced red apples and salmon made it even tastier. Ok, at first (before I had my first bite) I thought it was sliced garlic until I saw the menu agn. HAHAH!

Dean's Brkfast is good too. The combination of toast, poached eggs and melted cheese are rlly good! Maybe that's because I've nvr tried such a combination of food before. But I rlly love the melted cheese a lot. Gna visit this cafe agn, but not so soon.

Speaking of melted cheese, I'm rlly interested in this the first time I saw it online -

Graduation: Summary of 2011-2014,

In continuation of this post, here...

So, 3 months later, which was last Wednesday (28/05), was the graduation ceremony of CE, GBS and IFM @ 2PM. I've been looking forward to this day since Year 1. Even more when I saw my mentors graduating last year. Even even more after I've gotten the results for my last semester! It's finally my turn after 3 long years!

We were all given the above slip with our seat numbers stated on it. Kinda sad that I couldn't sit w most of my friends in the Convention Centre. Yes, we were seated according to the first letter of our names. Mine starts w 'Y', so...

The ceremony ended in about 1.5hrs' time. What's next? Photo-taking sesh! ;)
Sad note: my face was very puffy on that day so that explains the following photos (except those taken at home).

Some of the friends whom I could manage to find. Gotta knw that the other half of the classmates were actually at level 2 :( And yes, the guy at the bottom row is one of my tutors, , Mr YDS (inside joke). He is also one of the few young tutors/lecturers who taught our class. Ya, I guess teachers do play a part in the students' results because if I didn't rmb wrongly, our class did pretty well for BCS. Another reason was also because the module itself was easy.

It was all thanks to these friends (and those whom I didn't manage to take photos w) that I'm able to get my diploma certificate. We would always worry and panic when exams and projs deadlines were approaching. 我们是打不死的蟑螂 - never give up! But I'm glad that we've made it! Some will be furthering their studies while some are gna start finding a full-time jobs. But whatever choices we've made, I guess it's one that we wouldn't regret in the future. Life hadn't been easy for me since year 1 but I'm glad that I have a few friends who stood by my side thru the good and bad times.

Lastly, I wouldn't have done it if not for them - family.

Mum has been the best listener throughout my 3 years of poly because of the workload I had. I rmb it was during year 2 when projs kept flooding in and I was quite lost about what I should do. One of the modules I took required us to think from nothing at all. It was all about your own idea. I was feeling stressed and kept whining to Mum and boyf about it. But it was smth that I felt more than accomplished and satisfying after getting the result! I'm so happy that all of them took time to come for this graduation ceremony! Smth that I felt even happier on that day other than getting my cert. And Baby got me smth that I love too - a bouquet of sunflowers (with a small balloon and graduation bear).

“There is no doubt that it is around the family and the home that all the greatest virtues, the most dominating virtues of human society, are created, strengthened and maintained” - Winston Churchill

Took the graduation robe home because I thought I've lost the receipt. Mum also mentioned that she'd rather me keep the robe if I were to rlly lose the receipt. But I managed to find it in one of my bags. So, I'm gna return it next wk. Making full use of the chance while the flowers could still last and robe's still at my place.

我毕业了!

BKK Day 1: SIN - BKK,

Day 1: SIN - BKK

TBH, I didn't have any feeling of going to BKK until just a few hrs before the flight. That's when I started packing my luggage at about 10PM the night before. My flight was at 1010AM the next morning. I guess it was all because of the protest/riot that was going on during that time. It was a 4D3N trip to BKK but my luggage was filled with so many things. It was exactly the same as my 7D6N HK trip previously. I rlly have no idea how the other girls managed to pack their luggage w so much space in it.

Reached the airport and was a lil excited. Reason being it's the first time I'll be taking plane w friends for an overseas trip. In the past, it's either by coach or boat because the countries are neighbouring countries and it will be a waste of money if we book airplane tix to those countries.

No, that's not my luggage. I was just tired and needed a thing to sit on. My luggage to BKK was like 8 or 9KG (I can't rmb but it's one of the heaviest there). Checked in after the 3 sisters arrived and went for our brkfast. It was my 2nd round of brkfast bcos my mum insisted that I have it before I left home that morning.

I'm a chocolate-person
Proceeded to the boarding/waiting area. Camwhore sesh started here because we had to wait for like half an hr before we could board the plane. More like fooling arnd...

So, for this trip, I travelled with these people +2 who didn't want to be in the photo.

Time to board the plane...

Take off from SIN

First photo taken after we landed in BKK

For people who dk, you may get your free SIM-card at the airport. Of cus, the value isn't a lot to the extent that you can use for a day. But that's enough for you to text your friend if you are getting onto a different cab. I topped up the card twice throughout the trip. First on Day 1 after checking in to our hotel, second was on the third day. Well, anyway, we split into 2 taxis to get to our hotel: First House Bangkok. No, this is not the haunted one (First Hotel).

I used the wrong mode and that explains the filter..........

My roommate: Sylvia

The guys' room which Sylvia and I initially got

Headed down to Platinum Mall which is just one OHB across where we were staying. Settled our first meal in BKK at the foodcourt.

No photos because it's nth much. Shopping spree started right after our lunch and I bought the most (as usual). Idk how to control my obsession until Martin and Sylvia reminded me on how many things I've bought. But nope, there was still another 1k or 2k Baht to reach the limit. Left the mall in the evening and headed back to the hotel to put our things before going for our dinz. Settled our dinz at a night hawker in between Central World and Platinum Mall.

Pron Seafood - famous for salted fish

Deep fried chicken w garlic

Salted fish

Tom Yam (Spicy soup)

Omelette w minced pork

Grilled seafood

I can't comment on the seafood as I am allergic to it. But one thing I can say is, their prawns are so meaty that I could think back to the times when I could still eat prawns. Those were the times... Their omelette was too oily for my liking and chicken was a lil rough :/ I'm more of the drumstick and thighs person. Ended the first day in BKK after visiting Central World.

It's alrdy June. Half the year has just gone by in a blink of an eye. What have I done? Nothing much actually... Graduated and gotten my diploma certificate and I'll be entering a new phase of life in a month's time: university. A tad bit of excitement but at the same time, feeling scared because I'll be missing the orientation camp. Sigh. Shall just hope for the best! Goodbye.
